So I've been working on my portfolio site for the new year for several months. The old design and code was difficult to use when it came to flexibility and it didn't work in explorer, which was a problem if I wanted to broaden the client and viewer base.
I was proud of it, at first, because it included a lot of fancy code I'd gotten from my final course at the Centre for Arts and Technology, but some of it wasn't even necessary. One example would be the comments section in my gallery, which was never used by anyone but SPAM bots. Literally I was up to 5000 spam messages from the start of this year to a couple days ago when I finally cleared what was left before I had removed it a month or so prior. That's a lot of spam..
I'm a bit concerned about my contact form(that goes directly to my email rather than my database) to have the same issue but I'll have to look over that when it becomes a problem.
This design I focused on the content for colours so the only colours are headers, the footer, and the logo at the top. Everything else is white and light grey. I use dropshadows a LOT but I think it looks really good all together. I used some code to make the header be in its own div with its own effect like everything else, and it shifts to the left outside the main box so that it looks like a tab sticking out of a book. Like when you're studying and you put a post it note on the edge of the page.
In explorer, the effects are quite the same but they still work.
The site is flexible to a much larger extent and is % based in width so you can stretch it out till a certain point(I didnt want it to go forever) and shrink it down till a certain point(so it doesnt completely break up).
Anyways O: Here it is.
